Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

When a baby is brought to the neonatal unit for specialist management, it could be for a variety of reasons, including prematurity (less than 37 weeks maturity), breathing difficulty, infection or a surgical issue. We recognize that this is a stressful time for the family, but they can be confident that our Newborn Intensive Care Unit is able to provide the best neonatal care for the baby. The unit has had extensive experience looking after babies not only from Sri Lanka but from overseas as well.

Our team at the Asiri Central LMC are all experienced and highly qualified professionals in maternity and infancy care. A well-trained nurse will talk with you to understand the challenges you are facing with nursing your baby. She will counsel you and respond to any further questions you may have.
